This means returning living POWs, the repatriation of their remains, or finding convincing evidence why neither of these is possible. The American Legion supports the continued declassification of all POW\/MIA information, the strengthening of joint commissions with Russia, North Korea and China, and adequate resourcing of investigative efforts and field operations to resolve POW\/MIA issues. The American Legion has also worked continuously with both Congress and DoD to improve the policies and programs for the accountability of missing persons.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Recognition Day: For years, The American Legion supported a National POW\/MIA Recognition Day, which is now recognized annually on the third Friday of September.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>POW\/MIA Empty Chair: Resolution 288, adopted at the 67th American Legion National Convention, calls for designating a POW\/MIA Empty Chair at all official meetings of The American Legion as a physical symbol of the thousands of American POW\/MIAs still unaccounted for from all wars and conflicts involving the United States.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><u>POW\/MIA Remembrance Service<\/u><\/strong><\/h2>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>\u201cThose who have served, and those currently serving in the uniformed services of the United States, are ever mindful that the sweetness of enduring peace has always been tainted by the bitterness of personal sacrifice.\u00a0 We are compelled to never forget that while we enjoy our daily pleasures, there are others who have endured and may still be enduring the agonies of pain, deprivation and imprisonment.<\/h4>\n<h4>\u201cBefore we begin our activities, we pause to recognize our POWs and MIAs.<\/h4>\n<h4>\u201cWe call your attention to this <strong><u>small table<\/u><\/strong> which occupies a place of dignity and honor.\u00a0 It is <strong><u>set for one<\/u><\/strong>, symbolizing the fact that members of our armed forces are missing from our ranks.\u00a0 They are referred to as POWs and MIAs.<\/h4>\n<h4><strong>\u201c<u>We call them comrades<\/u><\/strong><u>.<\/u>\u00a0 They are unable to be with their loved ones and families, so we join together to pay humble tribute to them, and to bear witness to their continued absence.<\/h4>\n<h4>\u201cThe <strong><u>table<\/u><\/strong> is small, symbolizing the frailty of one prisoner, alone against his or her suppressors.<\/h4>\n<h4>\u201cThe <strong><u>tablecloth is white<\/u><\/strong>, symbolic of the purity of their intentions to respond to their Country\u2019s call to arms.<\/h4>\n<h4>\u201cThe <strong><u>single rose<\/u><\/strong> in the vase signifies the blood they may have shed in sacrifice to ensure the freedom of our beloved United States of America.\u00a0 This rose also reminds us of the family and friends of our missing comrades who keep faith, while awaiting their return.<\/h4>\n<h4>\u201cThe <strong><u>red ribbon<\/u><\/strong> on the vase represents the red ribbons worn on the lapels of the thousands who demand, with unyielding determination, a proper account of our comrades who are not among us.<\/h4>\n<h4>\u201cA <strong><u>slice of lemon<\/u><\/strong> on the plate reminds us of their bitter fate.<\/h4>\n<h4>\u201cThe <strong><u>salt<\/u><\/strong> sprinkled on the plate reminds us of the countless fallen tears of families as they wait.<\/h4>\n<h4>\u201cThe <strong><u>glass<\/u><\/strong> is inverted, they cannot toast with us at this time.<\/h4>\n<h4>\u201cThe <strong><u>chair<\/u><\/strong> is empty.\u00a0 They are NOT here.<\/h4>\n<h4>\u201cThe <strong><u>candle<\/u><\/strong> is reminiscent of the light of hope, which lives in our hearts to illuminate their way home, away from their captors, to open arms of a grateful nation.<\/h4>\n<h4>\u201cThe <strong><u>American flag<\/u><\/strong> reminds us that many of them may never return\u2014and have paid the supreme sacrifice to insure our freedom.<\/h4>\n<h4>\u201cLet us pray to the Supreme Commander that all of our comrades will soon be back within our ranks.<\/h4>\n<h4>\u201cLet us remember\u2014and never forget their sacrifice.<\/h4>\n<h4>\u201cMay God forever watch over them and protect them and their families.\u201d<\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">\u6c38\u9060\u61f7\u5ff5\u5728\u6230\u722d\u4e2d\u88ab\u4fd8\u865c\u6216\u5931\u8e64\u540c\u888d<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4>\u8acb\u5927\u5bb6\u6ce8\u610f!\u653e\u5728\u6211\u5011\u9762\u524d,\u6975\u70ba\u986f\u8457\u5730\u65b9,\u7684\u4e00\u5f35<u>\u5c0f\u9910\u684c<\/u>\u3002\u5b83\u53ea\u8a2d<u>\u4e00\u500b\u5750\u4f4d<\/u>\uff0c\u8c61\u5fb5\u5728\u6211\u5011\u90e8\u968a\u88e1\u9762\u5931\u843d\u7684\u6210\u54e1\u3002\u4ed6\u5011\u88ab\u901a\u7a31\u70ba\u6230\u4fd8\u6216\u5931\u8e64\u4eba\u54e1\u3002<\/h4>\n<h4>\u201c<u>\u6211\u5011\u7a31\u547c\u4ed6\u5011\u70ba\u540c\u888d<\/u>\u3002\u7531\u65bc\u4ed6\u5011\u4e0d\u80fd\u8207\u4ed6\u5011\u89aa\u4eba\u5728\u4e00\u8d77\uff0c\u6240\u4ee5\u6211\u5011\u9f4a\u96c6\u5728\u9019\u88e1\u70ba\u4ed6\u5011\u7684\u4e0d\u5728\u4f5c\u898b\u8b49\u3002\u4e00\u540c\u8a3c\u5be6\u4ed6\u5011\u4ecd\u7136\u7f3a\u5e2d\u3002<\/h4>\n<h4>\u201c\u9019\u4e00\u5f35\u5c0f<u>\u684c<\/u>\u5b50\uff0c\u4ee3\u8868\u4e00\u500b\u5371\u6b86\u7684\u6230\u4fd8\uff0c\u55ae\u7368\u5730\u9762\u5c0d\u5404\u7a2e\u8650\u5f85\u3002<\/h4>\n<h4>\u201c<u>\u684c\u5e03\u662f\u767d\u8272\u7684<\/u><strong>\uff0c<\/strong>\u8c61\u5fb5\u4ed6\u5011\u7d14\u6f54\u7684\u611b\u570b\u5fc3\uff0c\u97ff\u61c9\u570b\u5bb6\u7684\u865f\u53ec\u53c3\u8ecd\u3002<\/h4>\n<h4>\u201c\u82b1\u74f6\u88e1\u4e00\u679d<u>\u7d05\u73ab\u7470<\/u><strong>\uff0c<\/strong>\u8c61\u5fb5\u4ed6\u5011\uff0c\u70ba\u4e86\u4fdd\u969c\u6211\u5011\u570b\u5bb6\u7684\u81ea\u7531\uff0c\u800c\u7051\u4e0b\u7684\u71b1\u8840\u3002\u7d05\u73ab\u7470\u4ea6\u70ba\u6211\u5011\u5e36\u4f86\u555f\u793a\uff0c\u9019\u4e9b\u540c\u888d\u7684\u5bb6\u4eba\u53ca\u670b\u53cb\u5011\uff0c\u9084\u5728\u5145\u6eff\u4fe1\u5fc3\u5730\u671f\u5f85\u8457\u4ed6\u5011\u7684\u6b78\u4f86\u3002<\/h4>\n<h4>\u201c\u82b1\u74f6\u4e0a\u7684<u>\u7d05\u7d72\u5e36<\/u>\uff0c\u4ee3\u8868\u5343\u5343\u842c\u842c\u895f\u4e0a\u5e36\u8457\u7d05\u7d72\u5e36\u7684\u4eba\uff0c\u4ee5\u5805\u5f37\u7684\u6c7a\u5fc3\uff0c\u8981\u6c42\u5c0d\u90a3\u4e9b\u4e0d\u80fd\u548c\u6211\u5011\u5728\u4e00\u8d77\u7684\u540c\u888d\uff0c\u80fd\u6709\u4e00\u500b\u6b63\u78ba\u7d50\u8ad6\u3002<\/h4>\n<h4>\u201c\u789f\u4e0a\u4e00\u7247<u>\u6ab8\u6aac<\/u>\uff0c\u4ee4\u6211\u5011\u4e0d\u6703\u5fd8\u8a18\u4ed6\u5011\u7684\u8f9b\u9178\u547d\u904b\u3002<\/h4>\n<h4>\u201c\u7051\u5728\u789f\u4e0a\u7684<u>\u9e7d<\/u>\uff0c\u4ee4\u6211\u5011\u60f3\u8d77\u4ed6\u5011\u7684\u89aa\u4eba\uff0c\u5728\u7b49\u5f85\u4ed6\u5011\u6b78\u4f86\u800c\u6d41\u4e0b\u7121\u6578\u7684\u73e0\u6dda\u3002<\/h4>\n<h4>\u201c\u8986\u8457\u7684<u>\u9152\u676f<\/u>\uff0c\u662f\u56e0\u70ba\u4eca\u591c\u4ed6\u5011\u4e0d\u80fd\u548c\u6211\u5011\u4e00\u9f4a\u8209\u676f\u5171\u9189\u3002<\/h4>\n<h4>\u201c<u>\u6905<\/u>\u5b50\u662f\u7a7a\u7684\uff0c\u56e0\u70ba\u4ed6\u5011\u4e0d\u5728\u3002<\/h4>\n<h4>\u201c\u4e00\u652f<u>\u881f\u71ed<\/u>\uff0c\u4ee3\u8868\u8457\u5e0c\u671b\u7684\u5149\u8292\uff0c\u5728\u6211\u5011\u5fc3\u4e2d\u71c3\u71d2\u8457\uff0c\u7167\u8000\u4ed6\u5011\u5728\u6b78\u5bb6\u7684\u8def\u4e0a\uff0c\u9060\u96e2\u90a3\u4e9b\u8ffd\u6355\u8005\uff0c\u65e9\u9ede\u56de\u5230\u5f35\u81c2\u6b61\u8fce\u4ed6\u5011\u7684\u7956\u570b\u3002<\/h4>\n<h4>\u201c<u>\u7f8e\u570b\u570b\u65d7<\/u>\uff0c\u555f\u793a\u6211\u5011\uff0c\u4ed6\u5011\u4e2d\u6709\u5f88\u591a\u5c07\u662f\u6c38\u9060\u4e0d\u6703\u6b78\u4f86\u4e86\u3002\u4ed6\u5011\u53ef\u80fd\u5df2\u7d93\u70ba\u6211\u5011\u7684\u81ea\u7531\uff0c\u800c\u4ed8\u51fa\u6700\u9ad8\u7684\u4ee3\u50f9\u3002<\/h4>\n<h4>\u201c\u8b93\u6211\u5011\u5411\u51a5\u51a5\u4e2d\u7684\u4e3b\u5bb0\u79b1\u544a\uff0c\u6240\u6709\u7684\u540c\u888d\u90fd\u80fd\u65e9\u65e5\u5e73\u5b89\u6b78\u968a\u3002<\/h4>\n<h4>\u201c\u66f4\u8b93\u6211\u5011\u6c38\u9060\u4e0d\u6703\u5fd8\u8a18\uff0c\u4ed6\u5011\u6240\u4f5c\u7684\u72a7\u7272\uff01<\/h4>\n<h4>\u201c\u5e0c\u671b\u4e0a\u5e1d\u6c38\u9060\u7167\u9867\u4ed6\u5011\uff0c\u4fdd\u7950\u4ed6\u5011\u53ca\u4ed6\u5011\u7684\u89aa\u4eba\u3002\u201d<\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n\n
