{"id":825,"date":"2018-02-04T14:26:23","date_gmt":"2018-02-04T19:26:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ltkimlau.com\/?p=825"},"modified":"2025-08-20T13:50:34","modified_gmt":"2025-08-20T17:50:34","slug":"membership-application-form","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ltkimlau.com\/home\/membership-application-form","title":{"rendered":"Membership Application Form"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span dir=\"ltr\">ELIGIBILITY<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"ltr\">The Let Everyone Get Involved in Opportunities for National Service Act of 2019 <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">\u2013 The LEGION Act <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">\u2013 <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">offers American Legion membership el<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">igibility to any U.S. military V<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">eteran who serv<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">ed at least one day of <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">active military duty since Dec. 7, 1941, a<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">nd was honorably discharged or is serving now. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"ltr\">You are also eligible for membership if:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"ltr\">\u2022<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">Your basic training time was on federal activation orders and during the above period.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"ltr\">\u2022<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">You were feder<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">ally activated subsequent to and during the period given above.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"ltr\">\u2022<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">Your activations were for training or for missions; check the title and subsection of your <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">activation orders.<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">Under eligibility guidelines for Legion membership, the term &#8220;active duty&#8221; as use<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">d in our national <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">constitution includes &#8220;active duty for training<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">.&#8221; <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"ltr\">However, our guideline further defines National Guardsmen and reservists as eligible under services to <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">federal activation orders Title 10, Subsection 672 or Subsection 12301, created foll<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">owing Desert Storm to <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">replace Subsection 672. In other words, to <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">determine eligibility for service members in the National Guard <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">or reserves, the activation order is the authority line.
